At the young age of 6, Denis starts showing interest in his father's Art studio by playing with his old tubes of paint
His parents, Leslie Dykes and Carmen Charrett Dykes who met in the art school in London, are both renowned artists
At the age of 16, he joins his father, to learn traditional sign writing and mural painting, working directly on facias, boards and vehicles. After refining these skills, Denis travels extensively, working in many countries, giving him the opportunity to obtain more experience. During the course of 40 years, his passion for Vintage lettering led him into posters, trompe l'oeil, logo design, theatre decors and backdrops.
